Obituary for Betty Jean Atchison

Betty J. Atchison, 78, of Manhattan, KS passed away Monday, February 19, 2018, at Good Shepherd Hospice House.

She was born in Minden, NE on July 7, 1939, to Loretta (Cronin) and Orval Emal.
She graduated from Minden High School. She was a member of Westview Community Church, attending Bible studies in the fall, winter, and spring.

She was a Book Keeper at Art Craft Printers Manhattan for seventeen years.
Betty married the love of her life Andy Atchison on January 21, 1972, in Columbus, Georgia.
Betty is survived by her husband, Andy Atchison, two daughters, Angela (Ted) Portz, of Nampa, ID; Diana (Scott) McElwain, of Manhattan; four sons, L Scott (Elisa) Portz, of Indepence, MO; Kit (Lisa) Portz, of St. George, KS; Douglas Atchison, of Citra, FL; Chip (Tina) Portz, of Odessa MO; two sisters, Sharon Kroll, of Gibon, NE; Linda Soderquist, of Axtel, NE; two brothers, Steven Emal, of Shelton, NE; Tim Emal, of Minden, NE; 15 Grandchildren and, 12 Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter LaTanya Klissus.

A Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 23, 2018, at Westview Community Church. Burial at Sunrise Cemetery will be directly after the service.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home.

Memorials in her name may be made to either, KSU Gardens, or Good Shepherd Hospice House.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home and Crematory.
