Virginia D. Simmons

Virginia Dare Simmons, 95, of Manhattan, KS, formerly of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away Monday, May 21st, at the Via Christi Village in Manhattan. She was an assembler for Thomas Industries in Hopkinsville, KY for over 28 yrs.

Virginia was born in Murray, KY on February 13, 1923, daughter of the late Lilburn Clayton and Verna Mae (Herndon) Thomas. She attended and graduated from Trigg County High School, Cadiz, KY, was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Hopkinsville, KY and was an avid quilter. Virginia was widowed by Robert Sadler and Grady Simmons.

Virginia was survived by two daughters, Fern (Jody) Mayfield, of Manhattan, KS;
Peggy (J. W.) Aldridge, of Hopkinsville, KY; a stepdaughter, Faye (Bob) Manalo, of Columbus OH; also survived by grandchildren, Joel & Loretta Mayfield- Springfield, VA; Robbie & Lorrie Mayfield- Junction City, KS; Alex & Jessica Aldridge- Irvine, KY; Amy Aldridge and companion Nicholes Cruite- Hopkinsville, KY ; step-granddaughter- Hillary Manalo- Columbus, OH; and a step-grandson: Nick Manalo- Calif. She is also preceded in death by her parents; husbands (Robert E. Sadler in 1958; Grady Simmons in 2003); son: Billy Sadler in 1952 and her brother, Lacy Thomas.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 24th at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home, Hopkinsville, KY. A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 25th at the Riverside Cemetery in Hopkinsville, with Pastor Donald Rogers officiating.

The family request donations are directed to the Good Shepherd Home Care and Hospice, 3801 Vanesta Dr., Manhattan, KS 66503.
