Dennis and Arlene Irvin
Funeral Director/Embalmer
Dennis
and Arlene Irvin graduated from LaCrosse High School, LaCrosse, KS
in 1967. Dennis then attended Bethany College in Lindsborg,
KS and graduated from the San Francisco School of Mortuary Science
in 1971. Dennis and Arlene were
married in 1970.
Dennis completed his apprenticeship in Salina, KS at
Geisendorf-Rush Smith Funeral Home in 1973. He then went to
work for the Rindt Mortuary in Arkansas City, KS before moving to
Manhattan in 1981 when he and Arlene purchased the Parkview
Funeral Home renaming it the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home in
1984.
Arlene graduated from Kansas
Wesleyan, Salina, KS in 1972 (BS) and Wichita State University in
1977 (MS). She taught business classes at Winfield High
School, Winfield, KS, Cowley County Community College, Arkansas
City, KS, Manhattan High School and Manhattan Area Technical
College for a total of 28 years, retiring in 2006.
Dennis is a member of the First United Methodist
Church, Manhattan Catbackers, Manhattan Lions Club, Lafayette Lodge
# 16 A.F. & A.M., ISIS Temple of Salina, KS, Manhattan Shrine
Club where he is currently serving on the Board of Directors,
Wildcat Creek Golf Course, Sheltering Embrace Campaign for Homecare
and Hospice serving on the steering committee, and Manhattan
Community Foundation where he serves as a Trustee.
Professionally Dennis
is a member of the Kansas Funeral Directors Association and the
National Funeral Directors Association.Arlene is a member of the
First United Methodist Church, Manhattan Lions Club, Manhattan
Catbackers, Manhattan Chapter #209 O.E.S., Adult chapter of AFS,
(past president), Fairy Godmother with the Manhattan Community
Foundation, PEO Chapter DE, Flint Hills Community Clinic (currently
serving as Secretary), Manhattan NEA (past member) and NEA (past
member).
They have one daughter, Maggie, who is married to
Guillaume Goudy and a granddaughter, Emma.

Mike and Helen Carlson
Funeral Director/Embalmer
Mike has over 30 years of experience in the funeral
industry. He was raised in the Solomon, Kansas area where he
graduated from Solomon High School; he then attended Kansas
Wesleyan University and received his BS degree from University of
Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Mike is also a past Master of the Emporia
Masonic Lodge, a member of Miriam Chapter OES, and is a member of
the Downtown Lions in Salina, Kansas. He is a licensed Funeral
Director, Embalmer and a licensed insurance pre-need counselor.
He is married to Helen who is a
licensed RN with the Salina Regional Health Center as a CVOR nurse
assisting in the open heart department, and a surgical nurse with
Salina and Manhattan Surgical Centers. She is a graduate of North
High School in Wichita, KS; she also attended Wichita State
University and is a graduate of the nursing program at Kansas
Wesleyan University.
They have 6 children together, Kelli,
Amanda, Thomas, Adam, Shannon and Shauna and a grandson Nevan.

Sharon Kurtze
Pre-Need and After Care Counselor
Sharon Rindt-Kurtze, grow up on a farm between Woodbine and
Herington and graduated from Herington High School. She attended
Fort Hays State College and graduated from Calahan's Beauty
College.
Sharon taught beauty school at Crum's Beauty
School for a while. She was co-owner of a funeral home in Junction
City.
She
came to Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home in 1993 as a funeral director
and pre-need and aftercare adviser.
She
has two daughters, Kathy Rasmussen and Tami Wachsnicht and six
wonderful grandchildren. She is a member of the Junction City
Church of the Nazarene. Her hobbies include playing bridge,
horseback riding, crocheting and being "Nana".
