Cheral Lynn
Garrison
September 16, 1955 – April 18, 2026
Cheral Lynn Garrison, our beloved “Purple Lady,” went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 18, 2026 in Wakefield, KS. She fought a long and hard battle with Huntington’s disease. Her family wishes to extend a deep and loving tribute and “thank you” to all of the staff at Wakefield Care and Rehabilitation. It is through the hard work and dedication of each individual, that made these past years manageable as the disease progressed. The family cannot express enough gratitude for the love and care that you gave to Cheral in her final years. You went above and beyond the call of your profession and truly served and loved on her and her family. For that, they are eternally grateful and humbled.
Born September 16, 1955 in Seattle, WA to parents Donald and Jennie Doremus. She was one of six children. Cheral married Paul, the love of her life, on April 9, 1977. Together they were married for 49 years and 9 days and raised 3 children. Cheral was a woman who marched to the beat of her own drum and was lively. She was known by her love for all things purple which earned her the title of the “Purple Lady,“ from the children at her church. Over the course of her life, she made and gifted many beautiful quilts to family and friends. In addition, she also was a master gardener. Out of her love for plants and gardening, she inspired others to become master gardeners. More than anything, she loved the Lord. She impacted the lives of each person she encountered. She enjoyed serving with the yearly VBS, youth group, the church choir, Bible study groups, women’s ministry, and hosting dinners with friends from church. In her latter years, Cheral continued to love on people as she was able to. She would be spotted near the entry door of the common area of the nursing home. She would say “hello” to each person who passed by her. She was intentional about remembering each person’s name and telling them that she loved them.
Cheral is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Jennie Doremus; sisters Donna and Marjorie; brother-in-law Dave Garrison; and nephew Rod.
Cheral is survived by her loving husband Paul Garrison; her three children: Joshua and Heidi Garrison, Corrine and Doug White, Cameron and Jennifer Garrison; her seven grandchildren: Elissa and Cody Bratcher, Malakai Garrison, Aeah White, Isaac White, Oliver White, Aurora Garrison, and Roman Garrison; her soon awaited great grandchild “Fredericka” Bratcher; her parents-in law, Tom and Sharon Garrison; her siblings: Roberta Jean Miller, Betty Sue Corkery, and Dean and Sheri “Sister”Doremus; her brother-in-law Phil and Stephanie Garrison, sister-in-law Sherry Garrison; lifelong friend and family member Sally Urbina; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that each of you plant a flower or tree in memory of Cheral. She loved plants and cultivating them, so her family feels this would be the most honoring way to remember her legacy in a lasting way.
