Gene Roy
Pixler
Sep 1, 1962 — Jul 29, 2026
Manhattan, Kansas
Gene Pixler was born on September 1, 1962, in Torrance, California, alongside his twin sister. He entered the world in a Quonset hut by the light of a lantern, born to Viola May Jordan and Marion Alfred Pixler.
Gene left school after the 10th grade to pursue what he loved most, working with his hands. Throughout his life, he held many different jobs, each reflecting his strong work ethic and willingness to take on new challenges. He worked on a dairy farm in Colorado, served as a cook in elderly care homes alongside his twin sister in California, and even spent time working on a shrimp boat in Mississippi.
After moving to Kansas in 1993, Gene worked as a mechanic at Stagg Hill Transmission and Westgate Auto. He later found his calling as a maintenance technician, serving at several hotels throughout Manhattan before finishing his career at Candlewood Suites.
Gene's greatest passions were his faith in God, working on his truck, helping friends and family whenever they needed him, and collecting and using his tools. He also enjoyed watching Walker, Texas Ranger and Home Improvement.
He is lovingly survived by his two daughters, Casandra Pixler and Amanda Pixler; his siblings, Patricia and Dan McNeil (Oregon), Eugene and Becky Pixler (Kansas), Nitavon Pixler (Oregon), Rose and Richard Gonzoles (California), Cheryl and John Clark (Massachusetts), Brad Swank (Oregon), Ronnie Karon (Colorado), Pam Wild (Kansas), Jeanette Pratt (Kansas), Marion Jr. Pixler (Iowa), and Doyle and Chester White (Kansas); as well as his four cherished grandchildren, Abbigail, Christopher, Kaiya, and Charleston.
Welcoming Gene into God's eternal kingdom are his parents, Viola May Jordan and Marion Alfred Pixler, along with JR Lee and Randy Pixler.
