Obituary

Irene Anne Meadors, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones in Topeka, Kansas, on April 29, 2026. She was born on July 14, 1948, to Ruth and Clause Causey.

Irene graduated from Wamego High School in 1968 before attending Ozark Bible College, where she met the love of her life, Roy Meadors. The two were united in marriage in 1972 and built a life centered around faith, family, kindness, and service to others. Together they raised three children: April, Crystal, and John.

Irene had a heart for children and devoted much of her life to children’s ministry, becoming a certified children’s ministry worker. Her faith guided the way she cared for others, and she was known for welcoming people into her home as though they were family. Many who had nowhere else to turn found warmth, comfort, and acceptance at Irene’s table.  She loved cooking and baking for those she cared about and created countless memories with her family over the years.

One cherished memory shared by her daughter April was of family road trips filled with singing to help pass the time. On one memorable stop at a rest area, nearby travelers heard the family singing and began clapping along, turning an ordinary moment into one filled with laughter and joy, the kind of moment Irene seemed to create so effortlessly.

She is survived by her children, April Barrows (Dale), Crystal Clark (George), and John Meadors; her siblings, Claudia Leeds (Arnold), Glen Causey, Michael Causey (Shelley), and Kitty DeMars (Fred); several spoiled grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a handful of terrific nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Roy Meadors; one brother; two sisters; and a nephew. Irene will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous spirit, loving heart, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and cared for.

Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the many lives she touched through her kindness and ministry.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 4pm-8pm at Irvin Parkview Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Grace Baptist Church of Manhattan on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 11am. Burial will follow Monday, June 8, 2026 at Kansas Veteran's Cemetery at 11am.
