John William Roberts Jr., 92, passed away on August 14, 2026, at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas.

John was born on May 13, 1934, in Sylvia, Kansas, the son of John William Roberts Sr. and Winnie Ruth (Koontz) Roberts. On June 5, 1954, he married Connie Lou Watson, with whom he shared many years of life and family.

John will be remembered as an amazing father and a gifted storyteller. He had a way of sharing stories that brought memories to life, and those stories became a treasured part of the time spent with his family. Above all, John loved his family, and the memories created throughout his long life will continue to be cherished by those who knew and loved him.

John was a member of the Manhattan Senior Citizens Center, where he enjoyed being part of the local community.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Bonawitz; and his son, William “Billy” Edwards.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Connie Lou Roberts; his son, Larry Wayne Roberts; and his parents, John William Roberts Sr. and Winnie Ruth Roberts.

John’s life was one filled with family, memories, and stories worth telling. His presence will be deeply missed, but the stories he shared and the memories he leaves behind will continue to live on through those who loved him.
