Mary Martha Zoeller, a beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted wife, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, in her hometown of Manhattan, Kansas. She was born on February 14, 1929 — a fitting day for someone whose life was defined by love, faith, and generosity.
Mary lived a life of deep devotion, both to her faith and her family. For over 20 years, she was a faithful member of the Joy Prayer Group, offering prayerful support and companionship to many. Her spiritual commitment extended beyond that — she was active in Women’s Aglow, the Altar Society, and Devotions to the Eucharist. Mary also gave her time and heart to the Church’s Budget Shop, supported Right to Life, and regularly contributed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Mary had a deep appreciation for the beauty of life. She expressed this through her love of still life and portrait painting, and through countless adventures spent camping, boating, and water skiing. Travel brought her joy — whether it was a steamboat cruise down the Mississippi, a trip to Mexico, or a cruise to Alaska. She had a heart for nature and animals, and a special way of making every moment feel meaningful.
Her happiest times were spent with her grandchildren — taking them on day trips and extended getaways, creating memories filled with laughter, learning, and love. She had a gift for making those around her feel seen, valued, and unconditionally loved.
Mary's enduring faith, generous spirit, and boundless love will continue to live on in all who knew her.
Mary was the heart of her family. She is survived by her loving daughters, Rebecca Mosier, Karen Tibbitts, and Sharon Zoeller; 11 cherished grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren who will continue her legacy of warmth, strength, and kindness.
She is reunited in eternal peace with her husband, Donald James Zoeller; her sons, Tracey Zoeller and David Zoeller; her daughter, Mary Lynn Zoeller; and her grandson, Christopher Tibbitts. Mary also joins her beloved dogs — Lamar, Baby, and Pappy — whose companionship she dearly missed.
A visitation followed by a rosary will be held on Thursday, June 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home in Manhattan, Kansas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 13, at 10:30 a.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
