Mildred L. Mathews Mildred Lucille Mathews, 86, of Manhattan, passed away, Monday, July 6th, at Via Christi Village in Manhattan. Mildred L. was born in Manhattan on July 31, 1928, the daughter of the late Monett (Cavens) Hanks and Aaron Divine. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Manhattan, was a cook at many KSU Fraternities and Sororities and at Shoe's Cafe. Mildred is survived by two daughters, Sandra D. Tyson, widow of Don Manhattan and Joyce M. Channel, also of Manhattan; also surviving are grandsons: Michael Ray Giddens-Mathews & Gary Giddens, 9 other grandchildren and great grandchildren 34 and many great, great grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Lowrey, wife of Oscar, of Siera Vista, AZ; Patty Sue Glenn, wife of Bobbie of Gary, IN. Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 1-8, with the family present from 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life Service will be at the First United Methodist Church, 612 W. Poyntz Ave in Manhattan at 2:00pm on Monday, July 13th, with Rev. Patrick McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan.
