Paula Rae Mills

Paula ascended into heaven to be with her grandson on May 4, 2025. In the days leading up to her death, she was surrounded by family that comforted her, cared for her and then, mourned her loss.

Paula was born in Culver City, California on October 28, 1949 and was 75 years old. In her younger days, she liked to share stories of her days in California, exploring the coastal highway, spending time with her grandmother Nancy and learning how to cook. Our mother shared her gift with us and ensured that Ron had enough to eat. Her talent was pies, cookies and breads, from which she often shared with others.

Paula did not always venture out to social gatherings, but her love for others that she encountered regularly in local businesses is evident. When you ask others who knew her, they responded with a big smile and sadness, for which we thank for always helping with patience and kindness as she was a spicy character.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ronald, one brother, Ed Havenstein, (Martha), two daughters, Shawn Neilson and Dawn Flood (Neill), two granddaughters (Tori and Haley) and two beloved dogs, Izzy and Abbie and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Leona Havenstein, one brother (Todd) and her grandson, Clayton Neilson for whom she was preparing to see again.

Per mom’s wishes, a funeral service will not be held until we lay our parents to rest together.
