Robert Gene Meisner, 91, of Plano, TX, formerly of Manhattan passed away Saturday, September 29th, in Plano TX. Bob Meisner was born in Okeene, OK on October 3, 1926, the son of the late Esther Ruth (Winter) and Carl Henry Meisner. He was united in marriage to Jacque Scott on Jan. 20, 1949 in Amarillo, Texas. She passed away in 2009. Bob attended and graduated from the Okeene High School, Okeene, OK; received both his Bachelors (1948) and Masters (1967) of Science Degree in Agriculture Education from Oklahoma State University and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in Education Administration. He was the Director of the Jimma Agricultural Technical School in Ethiopia for 4 years. In August of 1969, he and Jacque moved to Manhattan KS, where he was a Professor Emeritus at Kansas State University for twenty seven years retiring in May of 1996. He was very active in the Church of Christ Manhattan, serving as an Elder. Bob was also active with the Manhattan Rotary Club; Manhattan Chamber of Commerce; and a life member of the American Vocational Association. Survivors include his daughter, Patti Sue (James) Radcliffe, of Lewisville, TX; a sister, Vera Mae (Fred) Turner, of Stillwater, OK; a brother, Wesley Dean (Judy) Meisner, of Norman, OK and 2 grandsons: Nicholas Ross Radcliffe and Benjamin Skylar Radcliffe. Bob was preceded by his parents; wife, (Jacque); sister, Pearl Ethyl Patzkowsky and 2 brothers, Melvin Ray Meisner and James Meisner The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, October 4, 2018, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home, 1317 W. Poyntz Ave. The funeral service will at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 5, 2018, at the Church of Christ, 2510 Dickens Ave. in Manhattan. Burial will follow the service at the Sunrise Cemetery. The family requests any donations be directed to the Alzheimer's Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
