Sharon Jean Wright, 78 of Manhattan, KS, passed away Friday, January 9th, 2015, at Good Shepherd Hospice House after a long battle with cancer. Sharon Jean Hastings was born in Coffeyville, KS, on May 25, 1936, to Glen F. and Helen F. (Spendifft) Hastings. She was united in marriage to Don L. Robertson of Fredonia, KS, on September 3, 1954. The union ended in divorce in 1974. She married Robert A. Wright in February 2006, and he survives of the home. Sharon worked at a waitress and Dietitian for many years in Fredonia before leaving in May 1994 to help assisted her daughter in raising her two granddaughters while her daughter serviced with the Federal Government. The family transferred to Manhattan, KS in August 2000. As her granddaughters started school, she decided to go back to work. She went to work at McDonald’s on 3rd street in September 2000 to September 2012, until she was no longer able work. She loved working with people and visiting with customers. Sharon is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Ernie) Primera, of Glendale, AZ, Sonya Floyd of Manhattan, KS; three sons Mark (Jennifer) Robertson, of Emporia, KS, Kenton (Shirlene) Robertson, of Adelaide, South Australia, Bryan (Mary) Robertson, of Minot, ND; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, and a brother, Larry (Judy) Hastings, of Kansas City, KS. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents and a younger brother Arlen. A memorial service will be on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 10:30, at the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home and Cremation, 1317 W. Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, KS. Inurnment will be at a later date in Fredonia Cemetery, Fredonia, KS. At the family’s request, there will be no visitation, as cremation was chosen. Sharon loves her pets so the family has requested donations to be to the Russell Reitz Animal Shelter, 605 Levee Drive, Manhattan, KS 66502.
