Thomas Joseph Barry, 54, Manhattan, passed away Saturday, August 30th, at Mercy Regional Health Center.

Tommy was born in Dodge City, KS on March 16, 1960, the son of Ruth V. (Rogers) Barry and the late Wallace D. Barry. At the age of seven he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and was not expected to live more than a year. Tommy survived and brought joy to his parents for the rest of his life. He graduated from Dodge City High School and he attended Dodge City Community College. He worked at Joe's Car Wash and Hardees Restaurant. Tommy had a strong Catholic faith and was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Manhattan. While living at home with his parents he enjoyed watching sports and old westerns on TV. He also enjoyed reading Louis L'Amour western books and playing Solitaire. This past November he moved into the Via Christi Health Care Center in Manhattan.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Wallace, and two brothers, Loren Patrick and Charles Joseph along with his brother in law Robert Wolfe.

Tommy is survived by his mother, Ruth Barry, Manhattan. Brother, Dale Barry and his wife Gloria, El Paso,TX. Sisters; Phyllis Wolfe, Dodge City, KS; Marilyn Pachta and husband Jim, Linn, KS. He is also survived by five nieces; Jennifer (Paul) Dowling, Anchorage, AK; Tiffany (Bill) Carr Bucklin, KS; Maria (Rusty) Hamilton Capitan NM; Melissa Pachta Linn, KS and Gina Redburn of El Paso, TX. Four nephews; Michael Wolfe Dodge City, KS. Chris (Ella) Pachta Belleville, KS; Matthew (Nicole) Pachta Lawrence, KS; Andrew (Dixie) Pachta Munden, KS. He is also survived by five grand nephews; Adam Carr, Scout Hamilton and Paul, Michael and Jacob Pachta.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 9:00am to 8:00pm, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm, with a rosary at 7:00pm at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home and Cremation, 1317 W. Poyntz Ave.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 1:30pm on Wednesday, September 3rd, with Father Don Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Cemetery.
