Obituary

Walter Newell Royer was born on February 4, 1940, in Wichita, Kansas. After graduating from high school, Walter felt a strong calling to serve his country. Though initially turned away when he first attempted to join the military, he began traveling across the country, working harvests and building a life rooted in hard work and determination.

In 1964, after learning he had been drafted during a call home, Walter proudly joined the United States Army Reserves at Fort Sill. He went on to have a long and fulfilling career with the Army Reserves, serving honorably until his retirement in 1991. His years of service reflected his deep sense of duty and commitment.

Walter is survived by his brother, Samuel Royer, and his sister, Betty Ann Royer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Myrtle (Smith) Royer; his siblings, Carl Royer, Clarence Royer, and Darryl Royer; and his beloved wife, Cecilia Faye Royer.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 15, at 10:00 a.m. at Irvin Parkview Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Ogden City Cemetery in Ogden, Kansas.
